Renewable Energy in West-Africa
Many West African countries and their economies and companies are struggling with the challenge of both increasing electricity demand and insufficient electricity supply. The partially insufficient electricity grid is severly restricting the growth of companies and therefore economic growth as well. In order to compensate for the lack of energy supply, expensive diesel solutions with high CO2 emissions are often used. Nigeria, for example, consumes more than 10 billion litres of diesel per year for power generation. The need for reliable, clean and affordable methods of energy supply has become obvious, so that West African off-grid energy solutions represent a market opportunity of 8-10 billion US dollars.
