The children of today are our future

Approximately 1.3 billion tonnes of food are wasted every year, whilst almost 2 billion people go hungry or undernourished. The food sector also accounts for around 22 percent of total greenhouse gas emissions. Whilst these statistics are unnerving, it's important to unveil them to the youth of today, to ensure that they are aware of the impact their decisions have.

SDG INVESTMENTS does not only focus on financing sustainable projects, but knows and believes that ones individual decisions in day-to-day life have a significant impact. Our partner Dr. Stefan Bund introduced this impact to Year One of the University College School in London. The class focused on the SDG12: responsible production and consumption, and was supported by the 'Food Heroes' case study by World Largest Lesson. World’s Largest Lesson promotes the use of the Sustainable Development Goals in learning so that children can contribute to a better future for all, and have made materials available on their website in ten different languages. 'Food Heroes' discusses how to support the Global Goals by minimizing food waste, and encourages children to be more conscious about their consumption decisions.

We thank World's Largest Lesson for the supporting material, and Dr. Zoe Dunn and Elizabeth Szekely for making it happen.
